We are all about art in the park with inspiration all around us! Your child can create wonderful art projects, enjoy getting some fresh air, and have a so much FUN using his/her creative mind! There
is a wide-array of superb activities to choose from and as an ADDED BONUS, each registered child will receive a FREE Gurney Lane Pool Day Pass! A $10 VALUE! The one-day pass entitles each child and a supervising adult free admission to the pool. It can be used the day of the program or at another time.

All supplies and materials are included.

The Department is delighted to partner with ADK Creative Works to present the following children’s art series! Let’s inspire your child’s creativity with these fabulous art programs and local artists at Gurney Lane!

Program Information
  • TIE-DYE DAY - Bring your own items to tie-dye-whatever you want! Socks, shorts, t-shirts, hats, etc., and go home with fun summery clothes!
  • "*"POURED STEPPING STONE - Children will pour their own stone and add embellishments with various materials. They can even add their own hand or foot prints! A beautiful, personalized stone for your garden, year-after-year!
  • "*"MAKE A DISH GARDEN - Make a dish garden in a large saucer with a plant, characters; such as fairy figures, farm animals, cowboys, etc. and various embellishments like stones, flat marbles, etc. Enjoy this creative garden your child designed all summer long! "*"PLEASE NOTE: Your child may stay at the Gurney Lane Recreation Area Pavilion, if registered for Poured Stepping Stone and Make a Dish Garden programs. Adult supervision will be provided during the half-hour break between classes; they may bring a nut-free snack and drink.
  • "**":"***":"****"MAGICAL PAINTING SERIES ~ (Session 1, 2, or 3) - Children will paint a 10” x 10” canvas, which is pre-traced, of either a Fortnite character, Harry Potter, Pokémon or a unicorn. Kids will have a blast painting their favorite character! Please note: children must choose a character at the time of registration for each session they register for.
  • "**"SQUIRT GUN & SPRAY BOTTLE PAINTING - At this fun program, kids will go home with a 16”x20” canvas and create a larger mural to hang at the Parks and Recreation office for everyone to enjoy! Check out this fun way to paint! "**"PLEASE NOTE: Your child may stay at the Gurney Lane Recreation Area Pavilion, if registered for Magical Painting Series and Squirt Gun & Spray Bottle Painting programs. Adult supervision will be provided during the half-hour break between classes; they may bring a nut-free snack and drink.
  • "***"BEESWAX CANDLES - Children will enjoy making cool beeswax candles and many variations are possible! They can also decorate the candles by cutting different shapes of beeswax to add to their candles, creating unique designs. Beeswax candles are naturally scented, clean burning, purify the air, and drip less. Children will go home with 5 candles, too! "***"PLEASE NOTE: Your child may stay at the Gurney Lane Recreation Area Pavilion, if registered for Magical Painting Series and Beeswax Candles programs. Adult supervision will be provided during the half hour break between classes; they may bring a nut-free snack and drink.
  • "****"CREATE A WALL HANGING OR COASTERS - Learn to weave on a cardboard loom and use cool textiles like raw wood, twigs, yarn, etc. to create an amazing masterpiece! This is a timeless favorite! "****"PLEASE NOTE: Your child may stay at the Gurney Lane Recreation Area Pavilion, if registered for Magical Painting Series and Create a Wall Hanging or Coasters programs. Adult supervision will be provided during the half-hour break between classes; they may bring a nut-free snack and drink.
