General Information
  • Being out under a full moon is a magical experience. It also happens to be the perfect time to practice a little mindfulness. Mindfulness is defined as focusing your attention on the present moment without judgment. Walking in the dark, we naturally become mindful as our senses are heightened and we focus our attention on every little sound in our environment and strain to see the path in front of us. Studies have shown that time spent being mindful in nature has many benefits including increased short-term memory, creativity, and concentration; reduced stress and inflammation; improved cognitive function; and decreased feelings of depression.
  • Join biologist and naturalist, Beth Bidwell, for a leisurely, evening stroll through Meadowbrook Preserve as we learn techniques for quieting the mind, being present in the moment, and reconnecting with nature. You will leave with tips for including nature and mindfulness in your daily life.
