This class provides a basic dance vocabulary of movements
common to several styles (Egyptian, American Cabaret, and Tribal
Fusion) of belly dance. The session will introduce basic hip work,
upper body lifts and circles, traveling steps and arm patterns
designed for a new dancer, but offer enough variation to keep a
more experienced dancer’s skills sharp. Please wear comfortable
clothing, which will allow you to stretch and move, and bare feet
or soft-soled slippers or shoes.
Try something new or continue to learn, it will be an AWESOME evening – please join us!
Lisa Bohannon, Coordinator of SunDancers Community Belly Dance based in Queensbury, has danced locally for over 12 years and is a student of Kalila and Nataraja Center for Movement Arts. She has continued her dance education attending workshops with professional teachers and dancers including Jill Parker, known as the “mama of tribal fusion” and 3 Early Girls. Lisa is a dancer in the local troupe Jewels and continues to lead SunDancers in conjunction with the Forever Strong program at Glens Falls Hospital and the YMCA. She has been conducting workshops and providing demonstrations and entertainment for the Charles R. Wood Cancer Center and its programs and summer sessions at Wiawaka Retreat for Women on Lake George. Her community group has been a staple at the Queensbury Relay For Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events. In 2015, she produced and performed in Coalescence: An Evening of Belly Dance to a sold-out C.R. Wood Theater in Glens Falls!
