Autumn Walk in Mountains
Join biologist, environmental educator, author, outdoor enthusiast, and Adirondack Guide, Beth Bidwell, and take a walk through some of the town’s spectacular nature preserves. Enjoy the landscape and nature that awaits you!

General Information
Beth has acquired her Adirondack Guide’s License. As part of her new business, she plans to guide people with little outdoor experience into the forest on gentle walks. Walks will be offered to destinations such as ponds, waterfalls, low elevation overlooks, and historical sites (Saratoga Battlefield, Fort Ticonderoga, etc.).

This summer, Beth will offer two different types of walks to Queensbury residents, a guided walk and an interpretive walk. The walks will be featured in four of Queensbury’s preserves: Rush Pond Way Trail, Gurney Lane Recreation Area, Hudson Pointe Preserve, and Meadowbrook Preserve. One walk per week will be offered for the summer season. Whether you are new to the trails and want to familiarize yourself with the trail systems or you want to explore and learn about the natural environment; then, this is the opportunity you’ve been looking for! These beautiful parks are just steps away, in your own backyard ... explore the opportunity to enjoy nature and its tranquility!

GUIDED WALKS
  • The goal of the guided walks is to get participants comfortable wandering the trails of the town’s many preserves.
  • Once you’re familiar with these parks, they can become year-round destinations for your family’s outdoor adventures.
  • These walks will last for about one hour and will be at a casual pace.

INTERPRETIVE WALKS
  • The goal of the interpretive walks is to search for some of the wild things that call Queensbury “home.”
  • The interpretive walks may include: beginning bird identification, techniques for calling birds in for a closer look, searching for secretive salamanders and other amphibians, discovering clues about the different animals that call the preserve home, photographing plants, and hugging trees.
  • These walks will last for about one hour and will include stopping and exploring.
