Alternative Guitar Player, Focus on Hands
It’s our annual party-in-the-park! Please join us for a wonderful and FUN-filled day as we celebrate summer in the park! The department is thrilled to welcome Magician Joey D.; Daisy the Clown; The Puppet People; The Scotia-Glenville Children’s Traveling Museum,  Reptile Adventure, and the kiddos will be mining for gemstones in the hills of Gurney Lane!

Magician Joey D.
  • He will be entertaining us throughout the event with his Wild Wearable Balloon Animals and the Amazing Magic by Joey D magic show.
  • There will be plenty of audience participation, so get ready for a remarkable and entertaining experience!

The Puppet People
  • The Puppet People will be joining the celebration to present The Firebird. It’s inspired by the Russian folktale and popular ballet of The Firebird. Watch as even the impossible is possible, as the mythical firebird comes to life and Ivan and Princess Yelena team up to break the enchantment placed over their kingdom. This is an amazing show, with magical puppet fantasy featuring beautifully handcrafted marionettes, lavish costumes, vivid sets, and a large body puppet. “Some of the most highly acclaimed and skilled puppeteers in the US!” — Westfield MA Puppet Theater Festival

Daisy the Clown, aka Linda Terwilliger
  • She is the Capital Region’s 2011 Entertainer of the Year and she will add some extra fun for the kids with her incredible face painting and kid-friendly temporary tattoos.
  • So kids, please stop by to meet Daisy and add a little sparkle to your day!

The Scotia-Glenville Children’s Traveling Museum
  • They will be joining the celebration to provide a fun and creative activity for children.
  • The museum’s featured activity is Making Music.
  • Everyone loves to make noise! Build and decorate your very own harmonica and see what kind of music you can make!

Reptile Adventure
  • It is an educational organization that brings live animals to venues.
  • They are extremely hands-on, allowing participants to touch, even hold most of their animals — super, cool LIVE REPTILES!

Gemstone Mining
  • Gemstone Mining where they will find and keep the coolest specimens like amethyst, rubies, emeralds, topaz, citrine, Herkimer diamonds, PLUS lots more! Join DINOSAURS ROCK® for the mineral adventure, complete with Gemstone Mining for take-home gemstones & minerals. Plus, view a dazzling Museum exhibit of genuine minerals. DINOSAURS ROCK® expert educators will be on hand to share their insight into the fascinating world of rocks & minerals. For more info, please visit DinosaursRock.com.

  • For added fun, let’s make a splash!
  • There’s FREE admission to the Gurney Lane Pool!
  • The Department will be serving FREE hot dogs, popcorn, and drinks.
  • For a cool treat, Stewart’s ice cream will be served.
  • The department would like to thank Hannaford Supermarkets (Quaker Road) and Stewart’s Shops for their generous assistance with this event and for their commitment to our community!
  • It will be an awesome day in the park with extraordinary entertainment, food, and the beautiful park surroundings...sure to please the entire family!
  • In the event of rain, the celebration will go on as scheduled.
